The Mother of net neutrality calls for spanking of Democratic Chairman for not paying attention

If Professor Tim Wu is the "Father" of net neutrality, since he named the issue in 2002, I guess Gigi Sohn can be called the "Mother" of net neutrality because in 2002 her organization, Public Knowledge, birthed the original political manifesto on this type of thinking: "Saving the Information Commons."

Yesterday Ms. Sohn, the Mother of net neutrality, participated in a conference call for left-leaning bloggers to indoctrinate them into the right and wrong way to blog about FreePress/Public Knowledge's petition to the FCC on Comcast's network management.

  • Well when Mom's not happy, nobody's happy.
  • In response to questions about what bloggers could do, Mother neutrality effectively called on bloggers to spank Senate Chairman Innouye for not listening to Mom.
    • The impertinence of those 83 year-old, seven-term U.S. Senators who won't listen and do as their told!
    • Where is the respect anymore?

Ted Hearn of MultiChannel News had a great story on this: "Sohn to bloggers: target Inouye

  • Sohn "...urged political and technology bloggers to “target” Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii) because the Senate Commerce Committee chairman had failed to advance net neutrality legislation so far in 2007."

The Tech Daily's headline was: "Net neutrality blog swarm urged against Sen. Inouye."

  • Seems like the Mother of net neutrality also is known as the Queen Bee!
    • Sohn: "Sen. Inouye, while he seems to be favorably inclined toward net neutrality, has just done nothing about it this entire Congress," she said. "So he, in my mind, is the number one target because he controls the agenda."

The net neutrality movement must be desperate if they are asking their supporters to blog swarm one of the most important supporters who voted with them in the Senate Commerce Committee 11-11 vote that blocked the telecom reform bill.

  • If this is how they treat their friends... whoa.
    • "Friends don't let friends be "targetted."

I also heard that Ms. Sohn was joined on the call by Matt Stoller a political-attack blogger and founder of OpenLeft.

  • He reportedly was quite candid about his role in the net neutrality debate bragging that "if you proclaim you are against net neutrality you will get criticized" and "This is about framing an issue that would have been an obscure policy -- in terms of bad faith and free speech."

Bottom line: People are clearly tiring of the net neutrality movement's constant antics, hysterics, and stunts.

  • The fact that the net neutrality movement has:
    • Stooped to manufacturing net neutrality "incidents;" and
    • Is beating up on their friends to get them to pay attention,
      • exposes their desperation...
